I've followed the setup instructions at least I think so without luck. I can't get the repeater to wirelessly connect to the base. Any tips? Message 1 of Message 2 of So the WNDR is not capable of "repeater" mode, even though it has a repeater set-up function?

Message 3 of Mars Mug. There are a number of newer routers missing from that link e. Which setup did you follow and what went wrong? What encryption and data rates did select? Message 4 of The list shown on the link that jmizoguchi provided may not be up to date in so far as listing all the current routers that support WDS and WPS. However, I think June's idea was to point you in the direction where you can read-up more on how to set up repeater mode.

There are a couple of links within that link that you can follow. Message 5 of Message 6 of Message 7 of Message 8 of That's what I suspected; there's nowhere in the setup of the WRT to set it up as a base.

I don't think its compatible for this setup. This topic has been closed to new posts due to inactivity. We hope you'll join the conversation by posting to an open topic or starting a new one. Tnau entomology notes pdf

Previously i used my WNDR n as my only router, i had a modem from my cable company time Warner and i used for the main and only router then. The Modem and router were upstairs, and my TV is downstairs on opposite side of the house, therefore the signal was terrible, and always buffering on netflix movies.

I figured i would put this router downstairs as a repeater and would improve my connection on my TV, after many trials and fails i came across the powerline adapters, which sounds great to me, since it would be much faster than wireless, so i purchased and sure enough works great, i have plugged in on my PS3 now, so i have high speed and no more buffering, but i still have a weak signal on my other devices, so i have been trying to figure out a way to use my WNDR as a "repeater or AP" for downstairs, i would plug in the Ethernet cable into it, and would plug a different cable to my ps3, so i would still be able to stream videos fast and i would take advantage of the wireless signal from WNDR and this way increase the range of wireless network.

I have tried to do this many ways, all failed, if i just connect the modem WNDR without any configuration, it works but it is acting as a secondary network, when im looking for a internet on my device it appear 2 of them, one from upstairs and one from downstairs, and the internet wireless gets lost frequently.

Can anybody help me out on this? I am not a very tech person, but i do know the basics. Message 1 of 3. Message 2 of 3. However, there are some drawbacks to using this technique. This allows for higher wireless speeds as high as they can go and the highest encryption. N Routers. Nighthawk Routers. Powerline and Wall Plug Extenders. Wireless Access Points. Other Business Products. We have a warehouse here with several SonicPoints scattered throughout.

One worker has been complaining about the signal strength in his office due to his location so he asked us if we can set up wifi for him that just connects his office. I was going through our storage and saw that we have an unused Netgear N and a Netgear N I wanted know if there is anyway to set up one of these as a wireless client. I want the Netgear to act as an access point wireless repeater to multiple devices in his office to connect to the network and I want to wirelessly connect the Netgear to a SonicPoint but I don't want to bridge it to the SonicPoint because that would cause the SonicPoint to stop acting as an access point unless I am misunderstanding something about bridges.

In other words, I do want to bridge these devices but I want each of them to stay as an access point. Does the N not have AP mode in the settings? Listed as AP mode. Checked it and as I recall there was a 'static' mode listed as not recommended but that just required you to put in the static IP settings for the network it was connecting to, which is what I did. Plugged it into my network using it's WAN port and it started working right away.

Maybe I'm not understanding the real issue. If you are just trying to get a better wifi signal in his office, do you have a spare network cable drop so as to use the N as an AP just like you do with your SonicPoints? Or if he only has a single network drop, put a switch in his office to service the AP along with his PC. Or is his whole office all wifi? Is that why you are talking about bridging them? You need to change router's mode from AP to wireless repeater one.

Works better than original firmware. Once correctly set you can forget about it. I am reading the question and the first answer again. And they are both kind of very confusing in the respect that are putting together technical terms, which don't match. You can connect the repeater to your existing network using network cable or using wireless. In the latter case the repeater receives wifi signal from an existing AP, amplifies it and re-transmit it. The repeater wifi settings in both former and latter case must be identical to the AP that is: SSID, password, encryption.

To achieve repeater function you must change your Netgear from AP mode to wireless repeater mode. This way you will not add any other AP into your system. You will just add an wifi signal amplifier.
